Film Magazine Front Cover 2nd Draft

This is an improved version of my original film magazine cover

  • Visually it looks more balanced with better use of the space which was unused in the previous draft.
  • I've moved the pictures from the bottom to the right, which has given me space to type in a description related to the film.
  • The titles of the 3 other films are written in a variety of fonts and colours to create more a interesting look for the reader.
  • The coverline 'Review of 2013' encourages the reader's interest in the reviews and news of the past year. I used to the colour yellow to emphasise its importance within the magazine.

Film Magazine Front Cover (The Trophy Room) 1st Draft

  • The title is called 'Film 24/7' and it is written in a big bold white font so it is distinct with the dark background of the magazine which is off the 'Trophy Room'. This can be part of synergy because this image has been on its film poster and will be recognised with the films fans.
  • The main article is about 'The Trophy Room', which may attract a target audience of horror film fans. The name is synergy because that font and title is used on its posters so fans recognise the title within its variety of connections.
  • The tagline is above the title of the magazine and it indicates that this is the film magazine to read as it will provide the consumer with all the information that they want to know. This can persuade them to purchase the magazine.
  • The word 'Exclusive' provides the consumer with never-before-seen information and can entice them to purchase the magazine so they can share this information with their friends.

  • The red box which is tilted is overlapping the film magazine title because the consumer will still instantly recognise what the magazine title is nonetheless.
  • The coverline below 'The Trophy Room' proves that it is popular because it features the word 'Blockbuster' and is associated with horror, as it says'shocker'.

Poster of Film Premiere (AS Film)

  • The picture of the main character has one half of his body tinted in red whereas the other side is normal. This is to connote to the audience that he could have an evil side to him as the red colour indicates evil and linked with the horror genre.
  • The bottom left of the poster gives away the information of the film. The release date is shown so the audience knows when to see it. The release date is on Halloween which would be very good with more people hopefully to come and see the film because the scary holiday (Halloween) will go with the horror film.
  • The age certificate is an 18 which is deemed as to be too shocking and frightening for the UK audiences and therefore a limited amount of consumers can go and see it which has a negative impact.
  • The links to its social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter are for those who would like to find out more information about the film such as updates, photos and posts to keep the consumer informed and interested.
  • The title is written in a big bold font which covers the poster. It is tilted to represent an eerie and spooky effect and the lettering is written in a horror associated font which stands out so it can indicate to the audience that it is a horror film. The words 'The' and 'Room' are written in white whereas the word 'Trophy' is written in red to connotes danger and blood which encourages the audience to find out exactly why the 'trophy' is associated with the film. The lettering is distinct against the dark background.
  • The creepy tagline 'Another one to the collection...' connotes the danger which is related to the title of the film and to engage with the audience to find out what it means as it context for the narrative.
  • The name 'Glassbox Productions' is the company that has been involved with the film which is part of advertising for the production company.
  • The lighting of the poster is very dark to create a sinister tone to connote to the audience that it is a frightening film and makes it harder to see all of the details within the poster. The background is the picture of the 'trophy room' with the antagonist cleaning his saw to indicate that he is the killer involved in the film which intrigues the audience.
  • The name 'Ryan Moorbey's' indicates to the audience that he is the director and fans of his previous may be encouraged to go and see his latest film.
  • The names at the top of the poster are also the main ones who have been involved in the film.
  • The quote 'Modern Horror Masterpiece' from Empire Magazine encourages the audience to go and see the film as they may trust its judgement to see whether its good.
  • The USP of the poster is the word 'Trophy' as it connotes the danger and is the main feature within the horror film.
  • It also says 'Winner of 2 Academy Awards' which is important because the Academy Award (Oscars) is the most prestigious film award ceremony for the industry, and for the film to win two indicates that the film is well made with its critics and audiences.
