Production Company Logo

We have decided to use the same production company name and logo from our AS film. The logo will most likely fit it well with our crime based film. The name of our production company is called Glassbox. Our logo features smashed glass to help signify to the audience that there is a sense of danger of chaos of the genre.

 

Plot Notes for Film Trailer

• Film the criminal searching through an office looking for a USB stick and making a mess, smashing things up reverse the footage.

• Finds the USB stick in a drawer puts it in the computer and the main character walks in on him doing so. Trailer cuts out and skips to the title screen "PAYNE".

• Frequent cross cutting showing the different scenarios, the office and the main character walking towards the office.

• The footage of the office being dismantled is reversed to give off a dramatic effect synced with the music.

• Show some dialogue from other characters throughout the trailer, between the cross cutting.

• Someone being interrogated after being witnessed at the crime scene. Questions asked in the background of the previous scene.

Pitch Feedback

We presented our pitch to our class and both of our teachers. They were pleased with the detail put into our presentation in terms of our generic and trailer conventions which we included a lot of information for our class to know specifically. But our teachers pointed out that we have not included the characters and the actors portrayed in the film, which we will be starting on. They also said that we need to consider character development so the audience understand the characteristics and behaviour of our characters during the course of the film.We included the majority of areas such as; USP, Production Company Logo, Plotlines, Characters, Settings, Generic conventions, Trailer conventions, Poster and Magazine Cover, Title and Connotations and Target Audience whereas in our 'Trophy Room' pitch feedback we primarily focused on the plot and narratives because it we had that information in depth. Ms Twydell and Ms Bobbett also said that we announced the name for the title quite late into our pitch because there was wondering what it was in the first place to get an idea of our title is associated with our crime genre film. The title of our is going to be called 'Payne' because some crime films/TV shows have the name of the main character as the title such as 'Dexter' and 'Luther'.        

Risk Assessment

A risk assessment is to prove that we thought about what the risks are during filming which could injure us. It also includes what can be done to prevent and minimise the effect of one of us being injured. We thought of the main hazards which is liable to occur and can possibly have health risks.
                                                                         

Risk	Management
Tripping/walking into tripod	Watch out where the tripod is placed on the floor. Have the tripod in a safe position with space so it is not in the way for our production crew.
Slipping	Be careful where you are walking into during the filming e.g. artificial blood while placed on the floor. Depending on how hard the surface is, this could can cause harm and injury to a member of the crew.
Tripping over shoelaces	Having untied laces can increases the chances of slipping or tripping which can cause harm if they do. Make sure shoelaces are tied before filming.
Traffic	Look at the roads before and during filming because this can caused serious injury or even death if being hit by a moving vehicle.
Obstructing roads when filming outside	Check there are no oncoming vehicles when filming
Filming on private property	Look for signs stating that it is private property/getting permission from land owners.
Walking into props/objects	Be careful where you are walking and make sure there are no obstructions. If the prop is dangerous e.g. hacksaw, then this can caused serious harm.
Weather	Be aware of the weather and choose carefully about when we are filming. If there are strong winds then this can result in damaged equipment and the loss of scripts/storyboards. Rain can cause damage to electrical equipment so if it rains then make sure it is protected.
Sharp objects on the floor (Nail/broken glass)	Look around your surroundings and watch out for sharp objects which can harm our crew. It will most likely result in having to go to hospital.
Walking/running into walls/doorframes	Look out where you are walking/running. Running into a wall/doorframe may cause harm to you.

Mood Board: Crime Genre

This mood board represents the majority of conventions related to the crime genre. This includes the characters, settings, props, lighting, crime activities (robberies, drugs and murder etc). Most of these pictures are from iconic crime films and TV shows and some are generic images such as the vault and crime scene tape.

Crime Film/TV Trailer Research - Breaking Bad

This TV show was first aired in 2008 and created by Vince Gilligan. The plot line is about a struggling high school chemistry teacher (Walter White) who is then diagnosed with inoperable lung cancer. He then turns to a life of crime manufacturing and selling the world's purest crystal meth to secure his family finances before he dies by teaming up with his former student working as partners. As his business progress so does his reputation which goes under the name of his pseudonym Heisenberg. Because Walter is living a double life, he has to hide the fact from his family, including his brother-in-law who is a Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent and will do anything to do so. As the seasons progresses, so does the plot line which becomes much darker adding in new characters and stories to the plot. The show features a variety of crimes committed by the characters, including Walter. It is a very intense programme which looks very realistic and believable due to its slow pace, acting, cinematography and scripting. The show has won many awards and many viewers and critics class it as one of the best TV programmes of all time. The IMDB rating is 9.5 and the final episode was aired in 2013.

The character at the beginning (Mike) has a angered facial expression emphasising to the audience that he is out to get revenge. He then spots another car (Walter and Jesse) coming towards the other way and they both stop and get out. Mike then points a gun towards Walter showing his frustration and Jesse tries to stop this and protect Walter. This scene throughout contains tense music as it goes along with the plot line and anger of the characters. The scene is set in the middle of nowhere because they can't be seen and the location of the show is in New Mexico which features deserts. The part is a little montage containing clips from previous seasons with dialogue about Walter talking about his family and how he wants to protect them. The first half of the trailer is slow-paced to go along with the music in the background.

The intertitles shows Emmy Awards won by Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul for there acting so the audience know there is good acting. The line "We gonna start cooking again." means that Walter and Jesse and going to start producing crystal meth again to make money. The music from here changes into something more upbeat to change the mood of the trailer in contrast to the story line which is dark. Walter's wife says she is scared of Walter representing that he is a dangerous character and the guns in the next clip shows that there is going to be death involved. The intertitles from critics show to the audience that is very popular with critics saying 'Stunning' and 'Nail-Biting' which might encourage the audience to watch the show. The dialogue from Walter says he wants to 'cook' again and he wants to be at the top of the meth business which represents his dominance. The intertitles 'All Hail The King' represent that he is the leader and the most dominant character which is effective for the audience to understand. The last few scenes show the police and a crime scene which lets the audience know that it is a crime programme. The last scene features a line saying 'We're done...when i say we're done.' This also represents to the audience that Walter is assertive and he is telling the other character what to do. The second half of the trailer is very fast paced with the transitions synced in with the shots creating tension and very good editing.
